July 21, 2021 - The Bloomfield Center Alliance (BCA) is excited to announce that this Friday's entertainment for its al fresco dining series Dinner Under the Stars will bring a unique and special experience to downtown Bloomfield. The organization is teaming up with two noted dance companies - Mosaic Dance Theater Company and Viva Flamenco to share the spectacle and energy of middle eastern and flamenco dancing with the public. Dancers from both cultural organizations, accompanied by musicians, will put on an authentic and interactive performance showcasing each style. "The BCA is always looking to bring something different to the downtown," said Executive Director Ollyn J. Lettman."This is the first-time folks will be entertained with an exhibition of live dance and culture during a pleasant evening of outdoor dining. We hope folks come out for this new experience."
Excited with this first-time collaboration, Mosaic Dance Theater Company's Artistic Director Morgiana Celeste Varrichio said, "Three cheers to the Bloomfield Center Alliance for trying something new with the idea of bringing live dance to Dinner Under the Stars. We are so looking forward to being part of this event on July 23rd. It will be our first in-person performance since everything shut down last year and we hope to get a great turnout. It's going to be magical." Dancers from both Mosaic Dance Theater Company and Viva Flamenco will perform three sets starting at 6:30 and ending at 9:30.
This is not the first time the organization is changing things up for Dinner Under the Stars which usually brings a different singer or small band each week to perform various musical genres. Back in June it worked with the New Jersey School of Dramatic Arts (based in Bloomfield Center), to provide visitors an evening of improvisational comedy performed by their improv troupe - Nutty by Nature.
Dinner Under the Stars takes place Friday evenings 6-10 PM on the first block of Washington Street (between Glenwood Avenue and Farrand Street). Visitors can get dinner from any downtown restaurant and enjoy their meal at outdoor tables provided by local restaurants or the BCA. The series will run through mid-October. Convenient parking for the public is available at the town's Glenwood Parking Garage.
This series is made possible with the support of corporate partners, The Shops at Bloomfield Station and Avalon Bloomfield Station.
