First Dinner under the Stars/ Pop- up Gallery

07-20-2017

Bloomfield Centers Washington Street was the place to be Friday, June 30th as the Bloomfield Center Alliance (BCA) kicked off its first in a series of five Dinner under the Stars evenings. Dozens gathered at the lower end of the block to enjoy al fresco dining, along with live, acoustic music by singer Michael Degirolomo. Diners chose from five local restaurants who set up tables and chairs outdoors and served their full menu to customers. They include: Aki Asian House, Anthonys Cheesecake, Essex Junction Craft Kitchen and Bar, Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery, and Villa Italiana Pizzeria and Restaurant. The BCA provided additional community tables for people who wanted to bring food from other nearby restaurants or just wanted to sit and enjoy the music and atmosphere. Along with food, drink, and live entertainment, the evening also provides visitors a chance to feed their artistic side with the Bloomfield Center pop-up art space located at 78 Washington Street. The currently vacant storefront is to be transformed on the same evenings as Dinner under the Stars into a makeshift art gallery with local artists displaying various works including: paintings, sculptures, and pottery. Responding to the nice turnout on the series first evening, BCA Director stated We are very pleased with how many people decided to come down and experience something new and different in Bloomfield Center. There was a great vibe in the air and we look forward to seeing even more people visit Washington Street during the remaining dates through the end of summer. Upcoming dates are as follows: July 14th, July 28th, August 11th, and August 25th. Scheduled entertainers include Gerry Very Gerry Mastrolia (Cabaret show); Justin Jones (Jazz saxophonist); Quiet Party with Curtis and Movie Night (in partnership with Bloomfield Recreation Commission); and local singing sensation Autumn Turner (from television show The Voice). The BCA acknowledges the ongoing support of Bloomfield Township and expresses a very special thanks to Cedar Realty Trust who owns and manages The Shops at Bloomfield Station. They have provided access to the commercial space in order to accommodate the pop-up gallery, The hours are 6 -9 PM.
